Aleksandar Srnec

Aleksandar Srnec (1924–2010) was a Croatian avant-garde artist and co-founder of the EXAT 51 group, who sprawled the post-war scene mainly through geometric abstraction, light, and movement. His vision, technology and poetry converged, sculptures that shaped and sculpted light itself, turning space into a dynamic proposition, dancing, changing, almost breathing a sonic breath. Srnec mainly used industrial materials and artificial light to create throttling, pulsating visual and physical shapes.
Srnec’s notable work integrated with “The New Tendencies” movement is the main visual motif for TUNDRA BOP and a running collaboration that enriched the collection. The subtraction of detail into seemingly simple and logical shapes, colour matches, and dynamics are what helped shape the collection’s narrative. It is an extension of the return to the roots with muted, natural colours paired with industrially-convoked aesthetics of Aleksandar Srnec. Geometry, order, and life is what is conveyed through Srnec and in Tundra Bop.
